North Brooklyn Farms

Since 2015, the NYC summer culinary scene has been all about farm-to-table outdoor dining events. By opening its site to the public for the first time in 150 years, North Brooklyn Farms has created a magical space for the most memorable New York summer evenings.

North Brooklyn Farms is located in South Williamsburg on the footprint of the iconic Domino Sugar refinery building, right on the East River water and underneath the Williamsburg Bridge. Entrance is on Kent Avenue and South 4^th Street. The farm’s purpose is to provide a green space to the Brooklyn community for people to connect with nature and with one another through agriculture, while gaining access to sustainably-grown produce. In this regard, the 35,000 square feet venue hosts weekly farm stands, dinner series, volunteer programs, musical performances, private events etc.The whole area will be expanded into a much larger park and community area by the end of 2018 (which probably means 2018 will be the last year of the farm… 🙁 )

For the most unique outdoor farm-to-table experience, North Brooklyn Farms organizes a summer “Sunday Supper” from May to September. Imagine a country-side farm communal dinner but in the most magical urban setting. For two Sundays a month starting 7:00pm (it used to be every Sunday), North Brooklyn Farms offers a vegan friendly dinner under romantic fairy lights, with sunsets over the Williamsburg Bridge and stunning views on the Manhattan Skyline. An incredible, one-of-a-kind New York dining experience.

The evening starts out with casual drinks (usually two choices of wine and/or beer – all included in the ticket price but you can also BYOB) before the five-course seated dinner, served family style. The farm’s root-to-leaf menu serves dishes that use every part of the plant and highlight the freshest produce of the season.

The large communal tables set the scene for a fun, convivial meal during which your neighbors might become your new besties!

The $100 tickets are to be purchased in advance and include food and beverages.

Sunday Supper 1st course: Broccolini, chili pepper, sesame, collard flowers

Appetizer: macadamia ricotta, spring peas, grilled radish & turnip, herbs

Best course: Grilled oyster mushrooms, black lentils, ramp vinaigrette

Sunday Supper at North Brooklyn Farms is probably one of my favorite New York summer dining events. I’ve made it a tradition to go every year, and I can never get over the exceptional setting, the kind that makes you fall in love with the city all over again ♥ . Sunday Supper would make the most special surprise date idea or a super original dinner outing to be shared with a special someone.
