If you’re lucky enough to be in Cape Town on a beautiful warm, sunny, WINDLESS day, a sundowner at the Grand is a must! Located on its own private beach in Granger Bay, Grand Café & Beach is part of
Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront and faces Table Bay with the Green Point Stadium, Signal Hill and Table Mountain forming for a unique and stunning setting.
The Grand is one of Cape Town’s most popular destination venues, with magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island, and THE place for waterfront dining with your feet on the sand. The food menu is average but expensive – you are obviously paying a premium for the location and view. They offer all day dining menus, but I would recommend sticking to drinks, and more precisely for sundowners (for those of you that are not familiar with this local term, it’s the South African “happy hour” for sunset!) The cocktails are the most popular drinks on the menu.
Avoid on (particularly) windy days!
This is a trendy and happening place to be “seen” which made me feel like I was in a swanky beach bar in Saint Tropez, with a worldly and beautiful crowd 😎 . The ambiance can be pretentious for some 🙄 , but the vibe is overall relaxed. The only thing that is a real downside is the service: although friendly, it is super slow and inefficient… So be patient and expect it to be very busy at peak hours! Kill some time at their warehouse shop if you fancy buying overpriced swim suits, jewelry or scented candles!
Open for Breakfast, Lunch, Drinks, Dinner and Late Night
