You most likely have never heard of Bloomville, NY and if you have, it’s either because you’re one of its 213 inhabitants, or because of Table on Ten.
Table on Ten is a café and Inn in a tiny town in Delaware County, in the Western Catskills. Table on Ten has become Bloomville’s main (only) attraction, and a popular pit stop for visitors from New York City on an upstate getaway, locals from around the region, and weekenders who own houses in the area – as well as a real hipster hub for people from the art world. The 19th century Italianate house is home to a cozy café and, true to the county’s formula, also offers lodging. The story behind Table on Ten is a true “hickster” fairytale: a former Dutch model, Inez Valk-Kempthorne, and her woodworker husband, Justus, fall in love with the area and decide to leave their Williamsburg apartment to build their dream home with Justus’s carpentry and Inez’s cooking.
Closed Mon-Wed
Needless to say Table on Ten really feels like home away from home as soon you step into the charming abode. The best way to enjoy Table on Ten is to make it a part of a whole weekend getaway by renting out one of their rooms (the attic or remote studio are the best), and you’ll be just a staircase away from their outstanding home-cooking. Table On Ten is open Thursday to Sunday for breakfast and lunch (serves the best breakfast), and for “pizza night” on Friday and Saturday evenings, which is THE weekend outing for locals and visitors alike.
Book your “dough” ahead for pizza night!
The food at Table on Ten is simply delicious, with amazingly fresh ingredients, all sourced from neighboring farms. Table on Ten’s cooking excels in the “less is more”, offering the ultimate farm-to-table experience in its simplest form. The menu is known for its creative seasonal fare and changes daily depending on the local farms’ freshest ingredients. Make sure you plan more than one meal here – breakfast serves the best eggs (my favorite being white egg in a pan, in a creamy sauce with the best mushrooms from Township Valley Farm) and homemade sourdough bread.
Don’t miss out on weekend pizza night, where incredible wood-fired pies are cooked in the brick-oven built by Justus himself. For sweet tooth cravings, their amazing dessert pies are imported from my all-time favorite Brooklyn bakery Four & Twenty Blackbirds. In fact, in many ways Table on Ten feels like a satellite of Brooklyn in the Catskills.
The vibe is super chill and relaxing, the service is incredibly personable and friendly. It’s warm, exceptionally welcoming, and homey. Come here on a romantic getaway or to hang out with your closest friends.
