The Brooklyn Barge is a Greenpoint restaurant and bar on a floating barge, with great Manhattan views across the East River.
The Barge opened in the summer of 2015 as a Brooklyn riverside bar and a water-based activity center, located down the path between the two warehouses at the intersection of West Street and Milton Street. The Brooklyn Barge was a welcomed Greenpoint addition for outdoor drinks with a view. The barge can accommodate 100 people, offering seating on-board and on land. This is the place to come for casual waterfront drinks (best are their draft beers, although they serve wine and summery classic cocktails) and to share their small plates for all-day snacking. The food is what you’d expect from any pub menu: sliders, fries, tacos, sandwiches… You get the deal.
Cash only
More than a bar, The Brooklyn Barge is a waterfront community dedicated to the conservation and restoration of the East River (that makes up for their mediocre food offerings 😀 ). They partner with leading educational organizations in the city to provide space for experiential learning and environmental study of the East River, with recreational water activities that include kayaking, sailing and fishing etc.
Great place to watch 4th of July fireworks!
The Brooklyn Barge does not take reservations, but is available for private parties and events.
Don’t come to The Brooklyn Barge with high expectations – take it for what it is: a great Brooklyn summer spot for a casual hang out with friends. Come for drinks to enjoy the breeze and the East River view.
