Almost five years after it was first announced, Public Hotel opened in June 2017, bringing affordable luxury hotel experience to the Lower East Side (the starting price for a stay is $150 a room!). With a beautifully designed hotel, lush gardens, restaurants run by no other than Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and three swanky hotel bars, Public Hotel is the hottest opening of summer 2017. Diego and The Lobby Bar are both hip and trendy with great in-house cocktails, but the highlight of Public Hotel is The Roof.
The hotel’s top floor boasts indoor and outdoor bars with uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views. This is the place for sunset cocktails, pre- or post- dinner at Public Kitchen or Louis, or for a late-night summer dance-off to their guest DJ tunes. The Roof‘s large outdoor terrace also hosts weekend BBQs and features communal tables and lounge areas to chill in small or large groups.
Such a summer hotspot naturally comes with an often frustrating door policy. The Roof’s outdoor terrace attempts to stay at a low capacity for every experience to feel relaxed and exclusive. Make sure you come as early as possible or make a reservation if you want to avoid to be escorted to one of their indoor bars instead. Prices at The Roof are average “NYC trendy” standards, but the VIEW is priceless.
The Roof bar is open:
Mon-Thurs 4PM – 2AM
Fri 2PM – 2AM
Sat-Sun 12PM – 2AM
