The beautiful outdoor space of The High Line Hotel where once were Alta Linea and 180 Tenth by Smorgasburg, is now The Golden Hour.
After opening for the first time in 2015, the best summer dining spot in Chelsea returns for the 2018 season as The Golden Hour with its exclusively outdoor space located in the picturesque courtyard garden of The High Line Hotel. This pop-up comes from the Brooklyn team behind Maison Premiere (that I love) and Sauvage.

The Golden Hour is an oasis from the Chelsea hustle and bustle, in a lush tucked-away garden right under the High Line. This is the perfect spot for after work happy-hour, sunset drinks, or a light al fresco meal in their 90-seat patio. The Golden Hour is also a great summer date spot, maybe followed by a romantic stroll by the High Line!
The menu resembles that of Maison Premiere, with a focus on seafood, an oyster selection and a raw bar – but a mediocre version of it! The food is just ok, and the service is shockingly bad, but those are just details when it comes to The Golden Hour – the setting is what bring you here! The weekend brunch menu is more diverse and coffee snobs like myself can pair it with the great Cali-imported Intelligentsia Cafe in the High Line Hotel lobby.

The Golden Hour‘s beverage menu focuses on refreshing summer cocktails with reinvented classics like a Brazilian Mojito, a Pimm’s Cup and of course, what is always the signature cocktail, the Frozen Negroni. Wines mostly hail from the coast of France and Loire Valley.

The Golden Hour keeps several table for walk-ins, but reservations are pretty easy to come by, even for weekend brunch.

The Golden Hour is a summer 2018 New York City hot-spot. This is the place to come to for an after-work cocktail on a sunny day, to catch up with friends, and a great (first?) date spot. If you’re looking for outdoor drinks and seafood nibbles in West Chelsea, go to The Golden Hour while it lasts.
